At first Alexandra Pacula’s monumental paintings seem to glow with the exciting light generated
in the high wattage metropolis of New York City, where she lives. “I paint cityscapes because I’m drawn to the way light behaves in a city,” says Pacula. “Light plays on the street, on the windows, on buildings and in the clouds. The cityscape allows me to create a stable composition that can be filled with wild, energetic light.”
