Rebecca Stenn
Rebecca Stenn (b 1968, Cincinnati, OH) is a New York City painter who focuses on landscapes. Her work is characterized by colorful depictions of mountainous terrain in clearly delineated, almost geometric layers. After decades as a professional dancer, Stenn now incorporates physical performance into her paintings, considering elements such as space and movement. About her creative activity she says, “I paint like I move through space; carving, pulling and expanding. I paint the way I dance - with sensuality and spaciousness, with strength and softness, with attention to color and line and abandon all at once.”
Stenn has exhibited widely across the United States and internationally, including Milan, Venice, Lisbon, and Florence. Recently, four of Stenn’s paintings were featured as the projected backdrop for the Miami City Ballet’s production of Sea Change. She has most recently been invited to show her work at the 2025 Florence Biennale.
