The most straightforward idea behind the paintings of ice cubes is meditation on water, something precious and necessary for life but that we might take for granted. And at their core, the works are memorials - the remembrance of something impermanent. While much of our lives feels constant, we are surrounded by transience. Like ice to water, we are moments in flux between states of matter.
